Job Title: Associate - Business Development and Deal Sourcing

Dark Alpha Capital is an investment firm focused on acquiring private companies. We partner with successful businesses seeking a pathway to an exit transaction. Our investors include specialized financial institutions, family offices, current and former entrepreneurs, with extensive experience owning, managing and operating successful private companies across the lower middle market.


We are seeking a highly motivated and results-oriented Associate to join our team. This individual will play a critical role in identifying, evaluating, and securing new investment opportunities that align with our firm's strategic objectives and investment criteria. The ideal candidate will possess a strong entrepreneurial spirit, excellent networking and relationship-building skills, and a proven track record of driving results in a high-stakes environment.


  • Deal Sourcing:
  • Proactively identify potential investment opportunities through various channels, including industry networks, conferences, online platforms, and direct outreach.
  • Leverage existing relationships and develop new ones with key industry players, intermediaries, and potential partners.
  • Conduct thorough market research and analysis to identify emerging trends and attractive investment sectors.
  • Build and manage a robust pipeline of potential deals, ensuring efficient tracking and prioritization.
  • Consistently deliver qualified investment opportunities that meet or exceed the firm's targets.
  • Deal Evaluation:
  • Perform initial due diligence on potential investment opportunities, including financial analysis, market assessment, and competitive landscape review.
  • Collaborate with the investment team to assess the strategic fit and potential value creation of each deal.
  • Prepare investment memos and presentations to communicate findings and recommendations to senior management.
  • Deal Execution:
  • Support the negotiation and structuring of investment transactions, working closely with legal and financial advisors.
  • Assist in the coordination and execution of due diligence processes.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of post-investment strategies for portfolio companies.


  • Demonstrated success in a results-driven sales or business development environment.
  • Proven track record of identifying, evaluating, and closing deals.
  • Strong analytical and financial modeling skills.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset and a passion for identifying new business opportunities.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in a specific industry sector relevant to the firm's investment focus.
  • Existing network of industry contacts and relationships.


  • Highly competitive, performance-based compensation tied directly to successful deal closures.

Job Types: Part-time, Contract

Expected hours: 15 – 40 per week
